Carnaval

I was approached to design a promotional poster for “Carnaval: A Celebration of Music from Bach to Bernstein and Beyond,” a concert featuring acclaimed pianist Abdiel Vázquez. The event was set for April 15, 2025, at Weill Recital Hall, and the poster needed to effectively communicate the concert’s prestigious nature while maintaining visual appeal across both print and digital formats.

With a tight turnaround of less than a day and a limited budget, the challenge was to create an elegant, high-impact design that would engage classical music audiences while ensuring practical usability for various promotional channels.

The final design presents a striking, contemporary aesthetic that balances sophistication with warmth. The key visual is a portrait of Abdiel Vázquez, set against a dramatic interplay of deep hues and geometric overlays, reinforcing the concert’s dynamic energy. A refined serif typeface for the title, paired with modern sans-serif text for details, creates a visually compelling hierarchy.

The poster has been successfully adapted for print, digital marketing, and outdoor displays. Despite the minimal budget and time constraints, the outcome is a polished, professional design that aligns with the prestige of both the artist and the venue.

Given the constraints, efficiency was key. I immediately focused on the essential elements: a powerful image, a clear typographic hierarchy, and a structured layout that could work across multiple platforms.

• Strategic Visual Composition: I selected a high-quality portrait of the artist, ensuring his presence was central and engaging. The background enhancements, including warm, contrasting tones and subtle geometric shapes, added a sense of movement and depth without overwhelming the composition.
• Typography & Readability: The title “Carnaval” is in an elegant, bold serif, ensuring instant recognition, while the supporting details use a clean sans-serif for clarity. Key event details are emphasized using variations in weight and size.

With a clear vision from the outset, I efficiently structured the layout, adjusted the colour grading for a polished finish, and finalised the typography in a streamlined workflow—delivering a high-end result within the tight timeframe.

This project exemplifies my ability to produce compelling designs under pressure, making the most of limited resources while maintaining high-quality standards. The final poster not only met the client’s expectations but also serves as a strong visual identity for the event.
