Amber are a B Corp certified, Net Zero energy management consultancy based in Cardiff and the UK’s leading independently owned TPI.

Amber’s mission is simple but powerful – to be a partner businesses can trust to look after their best interests and their planet. They’ve pioneered genuine fee transparency in the sector, championing fixed fees over complex p/KWh uplifts, and building lasting relationships grounded in honesty and impact.

The Challenge

Amber’s existing Salesforce workflow was cluttered and difficult to navigate, limiting clients’ ability to input, view, and interpret their energy data. The system also lacked a clear process for requesting new site cases and offered limited visibility over performance metrics.

The goal was to design a clean, intuitive dashboard that simplified data management, supported energy reporting, and reflected Amber’s values of clarity and trust.

Process

I began by mapping the existing UX flow – analysing how users gathered, managed, and displayed data, including the process for submitting new site requests.

From this, I designed a new end-to-end user flow incorporating:

  • Streamlined data entry and validation

  • Clear progress tracking

  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for secure access

Using User Story Epics and the MoSCoW prioritisation method, the team aligned on key objectives, resolved prioritisation conflicts early, and focused resources on high-impact features for the MVP.

The Solution

The resulting product (Amber One) is a client-facing data collection and management dashboard that allows users to:

  • Submit and manage building and development information with ease.

  • Monitor meter installations and project progress in real time.

  • Access energy forecasts and benchmark performance across sites.

  • Build a complete picture of how each site uses energy, informing more strategic decisions and ongoing sustainability actions.

By turning Salesforce data into insightful visual intelligence, the platform helps Amber’s clients make informed, environmentally responsible choices – all through an interface that embodies simplicity, transparency, and trust.

The new Amber One dashboard transformed how clients interact with their energy data, making complex information simple, secure, and actionable.
